Shahbaz, Nawaz Sharif Or Imran Khan-Who And Who Not to Vote?
I am a supporter of PTI/Imran Khan. I used to support PML-N/Nawaz Sharif,Shahbaz Sharif until the previous elections. But I am going to vote for PTI in these elections. And I am ready to change my mind if anybody shows me how any other party is superior or any leader as honest as Imran Khan.
Strangely enough, even Imran Khan's opponents have this argument "against" his honesty; "O! Imran khan is not the only honest person..."
The most common argument presented against his party is that he is allowing dishonest and old politicians to join in, even though he talks of "change." And when the other party leaders are asked about them allowing the same people into their parties, the reply usually is: "But we were not claiming the change-Imran Khan was." Which in other words is saying, "oh we know we are all a bunch of dishonest crooks! but you claimed to get an honest team-talk about yourself!!"
Thus the other parties actually acknowledge Imran Khan's honesty and their dishonesty. But the question of Imran Khan allowing "bad" people into his party is still the "hot favourite."
Coming to this question of the "bad" people arriving in PTI. Well, we all want a party which has all 'honest' and 'nice' people. Though in my opnion the PTI does not have all the people which I would consider as "nice and honest," however there are a lot of them which I do consider as great and honest individuals. But I can't think of a way Imran Khan could have stopped the new comers from joining his party, when they claimed to have given up their previous thoughts, and to then believe in PTI's agenda and yes; "to have declared their assets!"
But the most important thing is that PTI is going to have party elections and thus no one can get any party seat of himself. Also no one can get the party ticket unless PTI's 'parliamentary board' decides. Thus I believe the party will naturally have a good "clean-up,"-and this has already begun with many PML-Q new comers, who have left PTI and re-united with the PML-Q.
People talk about Shahbaz Sharif's good works as CM, and Nawaz Sharif's good works as PM, as well as of Imran Khan's philanthropy and charity work. So should it be Imran Khan we should be keeping in mind before voting for PTI or should it be Shahbaz Sharif/Nawaz Sharif before voting for PML-N?
But then, didn't the Chaudhry brothers do a lot of great works in their rule? The 1122 ambulance service, free primary education, free school books for children, are a few examples. And then didn't Musharraf do great works too? So how should one decide who to vote?
We have witnessed that people rejected PML-Q and Musharraf for their wrong doings and ignored their good works, in the previous elections. These leaders were "half-good, half-bad!" -as some people say. The question arises again; are we going to vote for another "half-good, half bad" leader?
My opinion would be that we should judge, the available leaders, as a WHOLE and not try to compromise with their "bad qualities (the one's which effect the nation)."
Shahbaz Sharif has done some good work in Punjab. His support for young students, his action against some of the dacoits (though partial) is commendable. But there is also too much mismanagement, misjudgement and a very "dictatorish" attitude in some of the things he does.
People talk of PML-N's laptop scheme, the danish schools, the roads etc. without realising the fact that you don't spend money for "decorations" in a house where people have nothing to eat! People of punjab are poor, and are deprived of education and books. How can any man of intellect think about wasting money on mega projects (like danish schools) when you can make thousands of schools for the poor with the same money? Do you buy an Expensive Music system for a house first or build its roof?
And although we all seem to fall for some of the excellent roads in lahore (thanks to Shahbaz sharif and Nawaz sharif) and for the spectacular motorway, and even I, at some point in time was too excited about the motorway and roads being made in lahore. Just like a middle class man would fall for an expensive decoration piece in the mart even though he has little money to spend on his children's education-and then we have the angry (but sensible) wife scolding him as to why he wasted his money on that decoration piece, when they had little money to buy grocery!
Now, almost every scheme that the PML-N starts goes into corruption and losses; just like the "sasti roti" scheme of Shahbaz Sharif. Interestingly, this scheme was inspired by Imran Khan's "Sasta Tandoors." Imran Khan put up tandoors for providing cheap roti to the poor, but they never went into losses or any corruption. That is because the main leader ship was not corrupt. But anyway the scheme by Shahbaz sharif was a good effort on his part.
Other than that the PML-N leaders are involved in corruption and they never declare all of their assets. Some of their leaders are involved in 'violent' activities in regions of South Punjab. Also they have a very violent approach to solving issues. An example is the recent crack down against doctors. They attacked the doctors' and medical student hostels and arrested them. Some of them were tortured. They spent so much money for publishsing adds against them in every newspaper and on every news channel. Why such a waste of money and that too for giving false information about the pays of doctors? Any one can cross-check PML-N adds that were published in news papers with the pays being paid in reality, and he would know that it was all a big fat lie! How can we vote for such a violent government who wastes so much money for spreading lies, but they are not ready to raise the health budget?!!
Imran Khan has Shaukat Khanum, Namal university and a lot of charity works to his name. Recently his foundation (Imran Khan Foundation) built 376 houses for the flood affectees of Rahim yar Khan (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gOkT8TnIG4s) , 309 homes in Rajan Pur (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=in3AMvt3eNQ&), restored over 240,000 acres worth of farmland by providing free seed to the farmers all over Pakistan (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Otp8EE0SuSs&). And also his work for the Sindh flood relief and his humanitarian assistance initiative in Badin are great examples. None of these works ever went into corruption or losses. And another important thing is that he did all this when he is not in any government.
Some people also falsely criticise Imran Khan that he doesnot speak against terrorists and against sectarian and minority opression in Pakistan. But the truth is that Imran Khan has condemned the terrorists and terror acts more than any other leader. And he is the only leader who constantly visits the victims of terrorism! He visits the Opressed Shia Muslim communities, he visited the Ahmadis in hospitals and he visited the Hindu communities in Sindh.
He has spoken against Shia Muslim killings (specifically against lashkhare jhangvi too examples: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I_Q0iLVOY2s , http://tribune.com.pk/story/401434/stop-targeting-hazaras-imran/,http://tribune.com.pk/story/430252/cj-should-take-notice-of-shia-killings-imran-khan/ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bvUQg8Bis64&), against Hindu opression (he went to the extent of saying that he felt shameful being a Pakistani on their killing, he condemned forced conversions too: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qZJ19MG3hnA& -at 1:24-1:55 min.), against Ahmadi killings (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3gQFI2uuw9Q&, also http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I_Q0iLVOY2s at 44th minute ). He spoke against the arrest of the Christian girl on blasphemy charges
(https://www.facebook.com/PTIOfficial/posts/435104169864568).
He condemned the Taliban calling them anti-islam, anti-human and barbaric, alongwith condeming beheadings and school burnings multiple times(see: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=I_Q0iLVOY2s). He also said that he would disarm ALL militant groups and condemned going into Afghan jihad, and said that the militant groups stood on 'hate' (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T7IQ2SONvi8&). He does, however, say he can't be too outspoken against any 'specific' militant group as this would be akin to asking them to attack him (he said this in an interview to Saleem Safi on Geo News).
Now some people would ask why have I not analysed the PPP in this article? The reason is simple. It is because I believe that this time, no sane individual is going to vote for them. Imran Khan calls the PPP leader "the biggest dacoit," in almost every press conference of his. And he need not say much. He knows the public hates that leader already. But there are a lot of sane individuals (including some of my friends) who might make a big mistake by voting for the PML-N.
In the end I dream of a future Pakistan; the house of that poor maid who works in our house, its very small and in a congested and dirty place, comes into my mind. They are very poor. Then there are my friends who want to leave this country "Pakistan me kuch nai rakha..Pakistan ka bura hal hone wala he bhag lo," they say. Then there are people, who live outside the country...who say they'll be back if Imran Khan comes to rule. Then there is the girl who fears death because she is a Shia Muslim in GB. There are Christians who now have started to dislike this country more than ever. Then there are the doctors who want to run away, there is no respect for us they say.
Imran Khan promises to change that; the poor have a chance of a better standard of life-that 'poor house' of our maid has some chance. Those Shia Muslims and those Christians, those Hindus and Ahmadis they have some chance of protection. The people who wanted to come back to Pakistan might be here. The thousands of those Pakistanis who want to invest here if Imran Khan is in power are going to pour in their money. Imran Khan's passion and zeal for Pakistan, his confidence with which he vows to root out the evil from here, are signs of a true leader who can really do what he says, if God wills!
Do we even have that "chance" with any other government? Do we have that "chance" with PML-N? Or PPP? They don't even promise, with any confidence, to do what Imran Khan claims to do. All we are going to hear with their government is "excuses" and more "excuses." "Oh Pakistan is in a crises its very difficult to bring things to normal"--will say Nawaz Sharif...'We are trying to control the anti-Shia violence but people are too violent! "The previous government has ruined this country we are trying to save it." New roads, a new motorway is in the making! More danish schools coming up your way! And may be, and I pray this never happens but we might as well have to hear "Pakistan Khappay!" again from you-know-who.
